Leadbetter Beach
The beginning of this walking tour starts at Leadbetter Beach, one of Santa Barbara’s finest beaches for laying out, playing frisbee or beginner-level surfing. During low tide you can walk out to the end of the bluffs and go tidepooling or head down to 1000 Steps for a longer beach experience.
Before you start this adventure, stop in at Shoreline Cafe for a great breakfast right on the beach!
Tidepooling
Starfish, anemone, crab and other assorted sealife are all visible in the reefs just off the point of Leadbetter Beach. Check out the tide chart here to go when it’s low tide!
Shoreline Park
You can either take the bike path/sidewalk up the hill to Shoreline Park, or walk down the beach to 1000 Steps and circle back through the park. The views of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean from the bluffs of the mesa are unparalleled!
Throw a quarter in one of the viewfinders and get a closer look at the Channel Islands.
