The Saturday, June 5, performance will be followed by a birthday party at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street.

Come celebrate Lit Moon’s 18th season of making theatre in Santa Barbara, and support the company’s 2010 season, which includes the Lit Moon World Theater Festival, September 10-19, 2010.

Los Angeles Electric 8, the world’s only electric guitar chamber octet, returns to Fishbon to premiere a brand new program entitled Interlocking Textures. This debut performance will take listeners on a journey from east to west, showcasing the connections between Indonesian gamelan and American minimalism. Featuring music by ethnomusicologist Mantle Hood, minimalist composer Wayne Siegel and more, the evening’s fare will run from the traditional to the inspired – all ringing from a chorus of eight electric guitars.

From the streets of Brazil – a country where beats are celebrated and dance is a generation’s second language – Artistic Director Bruno Beltrão and the powerhouse Grupo de Rua bring the lightning-fast head-spins and stands, hand-jumps, turns and tumbles honed in the back streets of Rio de Janeiro to Campbell Hall for a totally new and fresh look at street dance. The brilliant all male company will perform Beltrão’s newest work, H3 that dispenses with heavy beats and macho posturing to create a minimalist, almost meditative interpretation of hip-hop in which the movement itself becomes its own pulsating rhythm.
