Trees of Santa Barbara

Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.
Chinese Proverb

One of Santa Barbara’s many charms are the beautiful trees that line the edges of streets, fill parks and decorate skylines everywhere we look. Santa Barbara is a town that prides itself on being earth-friendly and garden-centric, and the sheer number of plants and trees are a testament to that pride.

Fun tree facts:

  • There are over 45,000 trees maintained by the City of Santa Barbara
  • We have more than 450 different species of trees
  • Santa Barbara has repeatedly been named “Tree City U.S.A.” every year since 1980
